Established in 1994, the South Park Neighborhood Association serves businesses and residents by sponsoring a number of events,  including a cleanup day and National Night Out, a celebration of "taking a bit out of crime and coming together as a neighborhood." The group also helps residents plant and maintain South Park Gardens, a beautiful flower garden located at the corner of Southeast 14th Street and Southeast McKinley Avenue.
With a motto of "real people, working class, first-class South Siders," the association works to maintain the neighborhood's beauty as well as foster strong relationships among residents, businesses and city leaders while collaborating on community projects and concerns that affect not only the neighborhood, but all of Des Moines.
